Competency & Safety Training Services

R&R Scaffold Erectors and The Scaffold Training Institute welcome you to our scaffolding compliance training course recommended for scaffold builders and competent persons. This course is specifically covering Tubular Welded Frame Scaffold, System Scaffold, and Tube and Clamp Scaffold. Please consider the following reasons why you will find this training beneficial.

First, the trainers at R&R Scaffold Erectors are highly trained and experienced in all areas of scaffold. We, here at R&R, can share with you some of the unique skills and knowledge of Alaska and Alaskan conditions that we have obtained over the past 22 years.

Second, statistics show that falls from elevations are some of the most common accidents on industrial and construction sites. Proper training of personnel can help prevent these accidents.

Third, federal regulations mandate that this training be provided. On August 30, 1996, OSHA passed a new scaffolding regulation. This regulation requires specific training for anyone who uses scaffolding. It also requires training for anyone who erects, dismantles, moves, alters, maintains, repairs, or inspects scaffolding, and requires retraining as necessary (1926.454). A competent person who is qualified in scaffolding must be designated by the employer to supervise scaffolding erection/dismantling/alteration. This competent person must select only trained and experienced personnel to work under his supervision (1926.451(f)(7)).

Fourth, employees and employers should follow OSHA regulations because adherence to the mandatory safety rules may prevent an accident. While implementation of a safety program is the employer's responsibility, compliance with the safety program is in the best interest of all parties. Safety in the workplace is everyone's responsibility.

This course is designed to assist the participant in reaching the ultimate objective of obtaining a thorough knowledge of the OSHA regulations and proper erection/dismantling procedures for scaffolding.

Buyers and purchasing agents will find that the knowledge gained from this course will be a valuable asset in determining the proper amount and type of scaffold for any particular job. Erectors will find that the visual aides and training on different styles of scaffold will "clue you in" to new and more efficient ways of designing and erecting jobs. As any qualified erector knows, there is always more than one way of erecting scaffold and more than one style of scaffold for any particular application.

Through the use of visual aides (such as video tapes & overhead slides) and even some hands on demonstration, we believe a student will leave the class with a basic knowledge of both scaffold erection and inspection procedures.
